Abacus Mountain Guides has been providing world class mountain adventures on the west coast of Scotland since 2000, run by IFMGA Mountain Guide Mike Pescod.
World class adventures require world class guides, leaders and instructors, so we only use the very best. All our hill walking, mountaineering, climbing and mountain biking instructors are fully qualified with UK or international qualifications, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and very keen to share their enthusiasm with others! The Mountain Track, or Pony Track, is the most popular route to the summit of Ben Nevis and it takes about four to five hours to get to the top. As the path is loose and rocky we allow for the same amount of time to come down. Reaching the summit of Ben Nevis is achievable for most people but you will need good levels of fitness and stamina, and be prepared for a full day out in the mountains.
From the start of May until the end of September we run Ben Nevis Group Walks up the mountain. Please be aware that for Group Walks at the start of May winter equipment may be required which can be hired in Fort William.
Private guiding is available on any day of the week, at any time of year, for walking, scrambling, rock climbing, skills tuition, winter climbing and mountain biking. Try routes like Carn Mor Dearg Arete, Aonach Eagach, Ring of Steall, Tower Ridge and Ledge Route. More information here.
