Fort William High Street

Fort William High Street serves as a central hub for our Highland town, located near the scenic west coast of the Scottish Highlands. With a variety of shops and cafes lining the street, it’s an ideal place to visit. The Highland Cinema showcases the latest blockbusters, and you can also visit the Highland Bookshop, which offers a wide selection of books across various subjects, including fiction, nature, Scottish themes, and children’s literature, catering to both the local community and visitors.

Additionally, the High Street features excellent gift shops such as the Gallery in the Fort for treating yourself or your family, as well as several outdoor clothing retailers like Cotswold Outdoor, Ellis Brigham, and Nevis Sport, among others.

While you are in the high street why not visit the West Highland Museum.  It is one of the oldest museums in the Highlands, and was founded in 1922 by a group of local enthusiasts led by Victor Hodgson, who had neither a collection nor a building to display it in. In 1925, after several temporary exhibitions and the acquisition of significant collections, the Museum launched a fundraising appeal and in 1926 purchased the present building, a former branch of the British Linen Bank.
