The Nevis Centre is Fort William’s multi-purpose recreation and events centre. It has a children’s soft play, a bowling alley, café and a large hall that hosts a multitude of events from sports to music.
Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain sits alongside the spectacular Glen Nevis. Between them they offer an amazing range of scenery, activities, walks and climbs all freely available to all. The Nevis Partnership is a Scottish charity formed in 2002 with the intent to guide future policies and actions to safeguard, manage, and where appropriate, enhance the environmental qualities and opportunities for visitor enjoyment and appreciation of the Nevis area. We work within Ben and Glen Nevis in partnership with a range of local, national, and international organisations and businesses to maintain the paths and visitor facilities, conserve habitats and ecosystems for wildlife, and plant trees to regenerate native woodland. The Lochaber Geopark Visitor Centre is in the heart of Fort William’s High Street. Come and visit us to learn all about Lochaber’s vast geological history from the UK’s tallest mountain and its deepest lochs. Inside we have a range of hand-made local crafts, a 3D map of the area and an interactive sandbox – where you can even build your own mountains! Or you can venture outside with our local geology experts and experience Lochaber’s impressive geology first hand on our Geotours, ranging from half day trips up to 5-day field excursions.
Best Nevis Mountain Guiding offers guided walks on Ben Nevis and in areas including the Isle of Skye, Glen Coe and the Cairngorms. In addition to that a three day round trip to Knoydart starting at Glenfinnan is also an option. Best Nevis is run by Jack McCreadie – an experienced Mountain Guide and certified Summer and Winter Mountain Leader from Fort William. 3 Wise Monkeys is an indoor climbing centre found right in the centre of Fort William. Our bouldering wall is amazing fun for new and experienced climbers of any age. Or you can go downstairs and challenge your head for heights in our roped climbing wall. Book in advance and an instructor will be available to help you along the way. But if that all sounds a bit much, pop your feet up and chill out in our café seating area overlooking the bouldering wall. We’re open from 10am every day and don’t close until 10pm on weekdays or 8pm on weekends. So when the weather hampers your outdoor plans, you’ve always got an exciting indoor sanctuary to retreat to. Or if you need a family friendly atmosphere to burn off a little energy, you can always come and join the 3 Wise Monkeys Climbing community.
